Medical Psychotherapist

Mary A. Dumlao, M.A., L.C.P.C., is a licensed clinical professional counselor specializing in medical psychotherapy. Mary helps clients explore how their thoughts, emotions and behaviors affect their health and healing. She also teaches individuals how to use the power of their mind to increase healing potential, manage pain and adjust to physical limitations. Additionally, she assists clients in overcoming limiting beliefs that result from unresolved emotional experiences.

With over 25 years of experience in counseling, Mary has practiced in a variety of health settings, including inpatient mental health, outpatient rehabilitation and private practice. While working primarily with adults individually, Mary also does couples counseling and group work.

Mary received her graduate degree in psychology from West Georgia College in Carrollton, Georgia, and undergraduate degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. She has lectured throughout the Chicago area on issues related to mental health, rehabilitation and the human energy system. Mary is a member of the Illinois Counseling Association, the Illinois Mental Health Counseling Association, the American Psychotherapy Association, EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) and the Association for Humanistic Psychology.
